Testimonies of Healing

For three years I was a great sufferer from tuberculosis of the kidneys and lungs, also heart trouble and nervousness. The last two diseases mentioned had given me trouble for nine or ten years.

Since beginning the study of Christian Science I have received many blessings. I want to speak of a beautiful healing from sprained ankle.

When Christian Science was presented to me, I was a nervous wreck, caused by stomach trouble from which I had suffered eight years. I was afraid to eat, for fear it would cause severe suffering; at times, it was so intense that I prayed to die.

It is with deep gratitude that I testify to the following healing, which took place under Christian Science treatment. In July, 1914, I became conscious of difficulty with my throat, which gradually increased for two days, until I was obliged to leave my work in the bank where I was employed and seek help from a Christian Science practitioner.

When Christian Science came to the attention of our family, I was in a condition where I was entirely without hope, and only wishing for death to bring me relief. I had a complete nervous and mental breakdown, constant headaches, and was unable to sleep at night, dress, or care for myself.

After many years of treatment by prominent nerve specialists in this country and Europe, going from place to place seeking relief from climate for a so-called serious nerve trouble, and finding only temporary help, I became interested in Christian Science, and was completely healed, after a nervous collapse which confined me to bed many months. Other complaints are, one after another, yielding to the power of Truth, as I more earnestly work to correct old habits of thought, to recognize my own responsibility, and to read and study the Bible, together with our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and other works by Mary Baker Eddy.

When the knowledge of Christian Science came to me, I was feeling that the difficulties of life were too great. I seemed to have more troubles than anybody I knew.

When my daughter was nine months old, physicians gave up her case, and a Christian Science treatment healed her in an hour. My first test came when I remembered I had been warned by the physicians against giving her milk, which, it was said, would prove fatal.

About a year ago I contracted one of the numerous forms of skin disease commonly known as "itch. " I tried various medical remedies; but as nothing seemed to give relief, I finally wrote my sister, a Christian Scientist, asking her if she thought Science could help me.

Our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" ( p. 570 ), writes, "Those ready for the blessing you impart will give thanks.
