Testimonies of Healing

God is good! He is "a very present help in trouble. " Always, when we go to Him with love and understanding, He heals and saves us, for He is Life.

For eighteen years I was in a condition of semi-invalidism, the last three years of that period being totally unfit for any kind of work. According to medical diagnoses, by several physicians of various schools of medicine, I was suffering from chronic hereditary rheumatism, heart disease, kidney disease, and the consequent general debility following upon these disorders.

Sixteen years ago, in London, England, I became interested in Christian Science through witnessing the healing of a member of my family. What a happy time that was! It seemed too wonderful to be true! I began to read the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy; and I remember that each word of her hymns then seemed more precious than jewels.

Several years prior to my acceptance of Christian Science, I had been a semi-invalid, suffering constantly from pain, weakness, and fatigue. My mental state was one of complete wretchedness, amounting at times to morbidity, as life did not seem worth living.

Words can never adequately express my gratitude for Christian Science. I have been healed of a fibroid tumor, which physicians said would never be possible.

Having attended the Christian Science Sunday School and been taught by one of our lecturers, and my mother having been at one time a Reader in a Christian Science church and now a practitioner, I thought I was well grounded. When I went out into the business world, however, instead of taking my only help with me, I became estranged from the beautiful influences of Christian Science; and my troubles began.

For thirty years I suffered from a complication of salt rheum and eczema, and although I tried many physicians they could not help me, so I asked a practitioner to give me Christian Science treatment, which entirely cured me. That was seventeen years ago; and from that day to this I have never had a return of the trouble.

I have been a student of Christian Science for some time. Before this, I had an operation for gallstones.

I am deeply thankful to God, and grateful to Christian Science for the healing of quinsy sore throat; for I could not eat or drink, or even lie down because of it. I called a Christian Science practitioner in the morning and had treatment.

All my life I had been hindered in my studies and profession by a dreaminess, a lack of application or concentration which no teacher had detected or at least been able to help me overcome; and it was not until I studied Christian Science that it was uncovered and brought to light in my own thought so that I could overcome it. Timidity was another serious hindrance.
