Testimonies of Healing

For fourteen years I was sick with kidney and bladder troubles, dropsy, rheumatism, sick headaches, and other ills. I was healed, made sound and well, by reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs.

Eight years ago, when I was very much in need of physical healing, my sister-in-law recommended that I visit a Christian Science practitioner. My first thought was one of fear, since I believed Christian Science was something mysterious and evil.

Four years ago amid the darkness of belief in tubercular disease and a complication of other troubles, a beam of light came to me with the assurance that an understanding of God and of man in His image and likeness would dispel the darkness, and new hope was brought into my life. Slowly,—beginning with the healing of my eyes, a healing entirely unlooked for,—my condition improved as a result of Christian Science treatment, and in 1917 I passed the physical examination for the regular army.

I Turned to Christian Science almost four years ago for the healing of a disease pronounced incurable by two doctors, one a specialist. I shall never forget my first visit to a Christian Science practitioner, for I came away so soothed and comforted; and I was healed of this disease after three treatments.

I have been slow to take advantage of the privilege of expressing through our periodicals my gratitude for Christian Science. I hardly know where to begin to enumerate my blessings and could not count them if I should try; but this is a fact, that where once there was discord, inharmony, and much fear, now there is a peace and joy which was unknown before.

I wish to express my great and heartfelt gratitude to God for the help that Christian Science is to me in my daily life. Through trying to follow its teachings I am able to lead a more useful life than I ever dreamed of doing, and peace and joy are my constant companions.

The dawn of a new day and the real commencement of a new life, one free from pain and suffering, came with my beginning the study of Christian Science. The doctors having given me up as hopeless after years of suffering, and having left me thus to face the future, the dawning of a little hope was so big a wonder that I just had to study, with the result that I gained slow but sure relief from the pains of a rheumatic condition, supposedly left from a vaccination, and was healed of frequent attacks of pleurisy, neuralgia, and many other discordant conditions.

I came into Christian Science through my son's healing of a tubercular disease of the spine. Many doctors had been tried, but he was in a cast and nearly helpless.

For a number of years I was affected with stomach trouble. Physicians all did their part faithfully, but as they gave me only temporary relief the proposed was made to me that I give up materia medica and try Christian Science.

It is for the spiritual uplift and moral regeneration that I am most grateful to Christian Science. When I began to study Christian Science I was a tobacco fiend and was drinking intoxicating liquors to excess.
