Testimonies of Healing

During the period of eight years in which we have been studying Christian Science, we have had many things to be grateful for. Physically, mentally, and financially it has met every demand.

After reading an article in The Christian Science Journal I realized the necessity of sending in a testimony of the many healings I have received through Christian Science. My first healing took place about four years ago, when I was healed of nervous indigestion of many years' standing.

It is now about eleven years since I became interested in Christian Science. Previous to that I had been a semi-invalid for many years.

During the summer of 1917 I was taking a pistol apart, when it discharged and the bullet entered my right hand at the base of the middle finger, passing entirely through. I at once declared the truth and washed the blood from the wound.

From childhood I sought God and occasionally questioned those belonging to various denominations about Him, but without any satisfaction. In Science and Health ( p.

For fourteen years I was sick with kidney and bladder troubles, dropsy, rheumatism, sick headaches, and other ills. I was healed, made sound and well, by reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs.

Eight years ago, when I was very much in need of physical healing, my sister-in-law recommended that I visit a Christian Science practitioner. My first thought was one of fear, since I believed Christian Science was something mysterious and evil.

Four years ago amid the darkness of belief in tubercular disease and a complication of other troubles, a beam of light came to me with the assurance that an understanding of God and of man in His image and likeness would dispel the darkness, and new hope was brought into my life. Slowly,—beginning with the healing of my eyes, a healing entirely unlooked for,—my condition improved as a result of Christian Science treatment, and in 1917 I passed the physical examination for the regular army.

I Turned to Christian Science almost four years ago for the healing of a disease pronounced incurable by two doctors, one a specialist. I shall never forget my first visit to a Christian Science practitioner, for I came away so soothed and comforted; and I was healed of this disease after three treatments.

I have been slow to take advantage of the privilege of expressing through our periodicals my gratitude for Christian Science. I hardly know where to begin to enumerate my blessings and could not count them if I should try; but this is a fact, that where once there was discord, inharmony, and much fear, now there is a peace and joy which was unknown before.
