Testimonies of Healing
I wish to express my deep felt gratitude for an instance of very quick healing which I had the privilege of experiencing last autumn through Christian Science. While picking heather I felt a sharp sting, though the cause was not discovered.
It is now five years since I became interested in Christian Science, and words are inadequate to express my gratitude for what it has done for me mentally, morally, physically, and spiritually. For many years I was a confirmed invalid, suffering intensely and almost constantly, with no hope of relief.
I wish to be one more witness to the truth as contained in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy.
One evening a number of us started to call on some friends. The road was very icy, and before we had gone half a mile the sleigh began to slide from one side to the other.
I desire to give my testimony of healing in Christian Science, that it may be read by others who perhaps are facing something of the same conditions. For years I had been frail and my stomach had caused me keen suffering.
When I first heard of Christian Science, the week before Easter, 1912, I had been lying for about six years in a serious condition, suffering from organic, functional, and nervous diseases. I had not walked more than a few yards in that time, my only way of getting about being in a bath-chair, and even that exertion often was too much for me.
Four years ago I was engaged in evangelistic work among the mountains north of Bentonville, Ark. The work seemed to be prospering, and afforded me much pleasure both in mind and heart.
In 1903 I was healed of a complication of diseases through the study of the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and at the same time was enabled to lay aside glasses that I had worn for several years. The last oculist who attended me said I would never be able to see without them, and that as I grew older stronger lenses would be needed.
It is with joy and thanksgiving that I express my gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me. In January, 1914, I began to study Science and Health with a thought of proving all things and holding fast that which is good.
It is over seventeen years since I first heard of Christian Science. At that time I was a physical wreck.
