Testimonies of Healing

As a happy witness to the power of Truth I wish to tell every one of my healing from blood-poisoning, within a short time, through Christian Science. When the physician's skill was exhausted, I prayed in utter despair at first, and then with growing trust in God, for help,—and His help did come.

This testimony is written with the hope that it may be of as much help to some sufferer as others' testimonies have been to me. After several physicians had pronounced my case incurable, I took treatment in Christian Science.

A sense of love and thankfulness to God leads me to send this testimony of what Christian Science has done for me and for my family. I first became interested in this teaching through the healing of a friend.

I wish to tell of some of the blessings received through the study of Christian Science. I had reached a point where God as presented by scholastic theology meant nothing to me.

I have had many demonstrations of Truth's healing efficacy and they have brought to me a peace and comfort I never before knew. As a young girl I tried to read the Bible, but being unable to understand it and only feeling more confused on account of the seeming contradictions, the reading was dropped.

My first healing in Christian Science occurred about sixteen years ago, when we were living in the house with a physician and his wife. One day I had a severe attack of headache, an ailment to which I had been subject since childhood, and which grew worse as the years passed, the attacks sometimes lasting from three to five days.

From the cradle until I came to Christian Science I, was never free from pain. In 1912 I had to go to the hospital for a while to have my arm operated on, but until I came to Christian Science I could not use my wrist properly.

Words fail to express my gratitude for Christian Science, which has given me a better understanding of God and the meaning of life. All I can remember of my childhood is of being in bed, not caring to move about.

In November, 1911, I became interested in Christian Science through the healing of my little boy. The doctor and the specialist had arranged to operate on him for nasal growths, but my sister wrote to me that if I would consent to have Christian Science treatment there was no need of the operation.

The testimonies of healing done in Christian Science which I have read in the official publications and have heard at the Wednesday evening meetings, have been so important a factor in the growth of my understanding and demonstration of the truth, that I feel it to be a duty to tell the story of my own healing. About five years ago I met a Christian Scientist for the first time.
