Testimonies of Healing
With a heart full of gratitude I give this testimony in regard to what Christian Science has done for me and mine during the past twenty-three years. When medicine failed to help me, I turned to Christian Science, and was soon freed from the bondage of bowel trouble.
Thirteen years ago I was operated on for appendicitis and a growth in my side. Although the operation was performed by a noted surgeon, the result was almost constant pain in my side and severe headaches.
About the middle of January, 1915, after exhausting every remedy known to the medical profession for the relief of a stubborn cough of years' standing, I was invited to visit the Christian Science church, and attended a Wednesday evening meeting with my brother. At the close of the meeting I met many pleasant people, and was greatly impressed with their kindness and interest in me, when my past life had been so full of sin.
My heart is filled with thankfulness to God as I send this testimony. A few years ago a lady who was interested in Christian Science kindly explained it to me and lent me the text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs.
With deepest gratitude I testify to the healing power of divine Love. When using the oven of a fireless gas range, I did not push back far enough the lever that makes the oven fireless, so the valve was partly closed and only one burner lighted.
For what Christian Science has done and is doing in my family I wish to express my deep gratitude. Fourteen years ago I realized that drugs could not cure me of a chronic disorder of long standing, and was advised by a nurse to try Christian Science, as she said she knew of nothing in medicine that could help me permanently.
When Christian Science found me I had for five years been reaching out to every material promise of relief from physical and mental suffering. Not finding the much needed help through these methods, in an hour of agonizing pain and discouragement I turned to Christian Science.
Christian Science was first offered to me twenty-eight years ago, but I gave no attention to it until 1902, when it found me in a most unhappy state of mind and in miserable health. From that time on I was helped constantly, and know I would not have lived through the many storms had it not been for this teaching.
About five years ago I first heard of Christian Science. At that time I was at home under medical treatment.
Christian Science is the greatest blessing that has come into my life. When it was brought to my notice about four years ago, I accepted it with an open mind and heart, never once doubting the statements made by my sister.
