Testimonies of Healing
It is a deep sense of gratitude to God that prompts me to tell of the many blessings that have come to me through Christian Science. All that I am and all that I have I owe to this blessed truth.
When I came to Christian Science for help I was a nervous wreck. Six months had been spent in two different sanitariums, where treatment was received from four physicians, also from two specialists, but without any benefit.
It is now about five years since I took up the study of Christian Science, and to say that I am grateful for the benefits received is to put it mildly, I have been healed of stomach, kidney, liver, and bowel trouble. There was also a bunch in my right side that caused me much pain and distress.
I would like to express my gratitude to our Leader for the many benefits that have come to me through Christian Science, in which I became interested through the influence of a lady who was rooming in my home. She was a Scientist, and seemed to be happy and to love every one.
Words are inadequate to express my gratitude for the joy and manifold blessings of Christian Science,—only a life of ministry and love can do this. About eight years ago, while I was living in an eastern city, a friend loaned me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs.
During the seven years which have elapsed since Christian Science was first presented to me, I have had many proofs of its efficacy in the overcoming of inharmonious conditions. Through the study of Mrs.
Five years ago I took up the study of Christian Science, and it has met every need since then. I had medical treatment the greater part of my life for what was called kidney disease, accompanied by a distressing bladder trouble, and faithfully followed the doctor's advice, but with no benefit.
Several years ago, when I had a serious fall which resulted in a long cut over the forehead and another on the side of one eye, besides bruising my neck and shoulders, the truth that, "one with God is a majority," was clearly proven to me. I was rendered unconscious for a short time by the fall, but when I came to myself I began to realize the truth to the best of my understanding, till after the wounds were dressed.
Because of the many blessings received through Christian Science, I would like to tell of my healing sixteen years ago. I returned home from a large hospital in New York City, where I had been under the care of the most skilled surgeons, with the hope that I should have health; but my condition grew worse rapidly and a more serious operation was contemplated.
After trying almost every health resort in the United States, and being told by several eminent physicians that they could do no more for me except to give me opiates for temporary relief, I turned to Christian Science and was healed. Chronic bronchitis of seven years' standing was overcome, also tubercular trouble, an abscess of a malignant nature, asthma, and stomach disorder in its worst form.
