Testimonies of Healing
When I first heard of Christian Science, it was in a very vague way. I supposed that it healed the sick through prayer: and though I heard it much criticized and misrepresented, still I believed only what was good about it, because I had always thought the sick should be healed by trusting God.
I write this testimony with love to God and gratitude for what Christian Science has taught me regarding His protecting care. As I studied Science and Health, I came upon passages taken from the Bible telling how men were saved from the fiery furnace by their understanding of divine Love.
While reading a copy of The Christian Science Journal I found these words by Mrs. Eddy: "Gratitude is much more than a verbal expression of thanks.
The Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, was placed in my hands with the comment that many had been healed while reading it.
I did not come to Christian Science for physical healing, but as a result of the conviction that it is the truth revealed to the world through the spiritual insight of our Leader. I have never wavered for a moment in my profound gratitude for what it has done and is doing for myself and all mankind.
In 1910 I heard of Christian Science through a lady with whom I was acquainted. I attended a Wednesday evening meeting, but did not seem to grasp much of what I heard.
It is with a heart full of thankfulness to God that I give my testimony. One of my first healings in Christian Science was in a severe case of throat trouble, which was overcome by reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs.
"Freely ye have received, freely give. " I feel that I have not obeyed this command so promptly as I should have done, for my blessings have been many.
Since Christian Science was first introduced into our home we have had many demonstrations of its healing power. My mother was the first to benefit by it.
Oftentimes gratitude is born of dissatisfaction. I was dissatisfied with all I had.
