Testimonies of Healing

For eighteen years I thought I had to take medicine every night, and that if I did not I would be sick. I had three Christian Science practitioners treat me before the various ills from which I suffered were overcome, but after I had had a week's treatment from the last of these, normal action was established, and it has continued ever since.

It is now over a year since I became interested in Christian Science. When I look back on that time, it makes my heart rejoice, and I praise God for all the blessings I have received through the study of Christian Science and the understanding gained therefrom.

I have had so many proofs of God's love and protection, of His ever-present help, that I should like to tell of some of them, in the hope that it may be a help to others who are suffering. When I was advised to try Christian Science, two years ago, I had no idea that it was a religion.

It is with deep gratitude for Christian Science that I submit my testimony of healing. Not long since, I noticed what seemed to be a swelling on the top of my left foot.

The thankfulness of a friend for healing in Christian Science so much impressed me that in my hour of great need I went to a practitioner for help. In the first treatment I was healed of chronic sleeplessness, and established in the moral courage and strength of Christian Science.

It is with a sense of deep gratitude that I wish to tell of the rich blessings which have been mine through Christian Science. For seven years I suffered greatly with a severe abdominal complaint, to which, as often seems to occur in such cases, a nervous trouble was added.

Having received so much benefit from Christian Science, I am impelled to give this testimony, hoping that my experience may be beneficial to some one else. At the time my second child was born the mental atmosphere was peaceful and harmonious, and the physical suffering was nothing compared with that of a former experience.

I give this testimony to the efficacy of Christian Science in the sincere hope that some one else may be helped out of the unutterable misery and hopelessness of a belief of life in matter into the light of Christian Science. Through doubt and fear, and wrong beliefs about God, man, and the universe, I came to a point where I could not believe there was a God, where death seemed the only hope of release from an existence which had become unbearable.

Like the woman who touched the hem of Jesus' garment and was healed, the first touch of the truth in Christian Science brought healing to me. I had been a wretched invalid for seven years, suffering from spinal disease, female weakness, stomach trouble, extreme nervousness, and an intense fear of insanity.
