Testimonies of Healing
About four years ago (March, 1907) I was taken with a severe illness, which was pronounced diabetes. After doctoring a little over a year with one of our leading physicians, I had temporary relief, after which I was taken worse than ever.
For over seven years Christian Science has ministered to every need in our home. During this time I have learned to study the Bible faithfully, together with "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," "Miscellaneous Writings," and other works by Mrs.
Having been almost completely healed in Christian Science from ailments which had afflicted me for over forty years, I wish to take this opportunity of expressing my gratitude. It was at a time of great tribulation that a friend told me of Christian Science and mentioned a practitioner, whom I visited some time after.
I have long delayed to send my testimony acknowledging my gratitude for Christian Science. Since childhood I had suffered from nervousness, and as I grew older I had many attacks of illness with extreme depression, often being incapacitated for months, although I tried every remedy within my reach, including physical culture.
Christian Science means more to me than words can describe. It means health and strength in place of suffering and weakness.
Christian Science came to my attention while in Alaska, through the healing of my mother. When I finally secured a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs.
ON my arrival at Durban, Natal, in August, 1911, I went in regularly for sea bathing, and somehow I caught a very severe cold, which affected my kidneys. The pains were at times so acute that I could only rise with difficulty from a chair, and in walking I had to put my feet down gently.
To tell all that has been done for me and my family would take too long; but when I first heard of Christian Science I had been in a very bad condition for a year, in fact life seemed a burden, and I was patiently waiting to die and get through with it all, as I then supposed. When I was taken to see a practitioner, I was wearing dark glasses, as the least light seemed to give me pain.
Like countless others, I too have occasion to thank God for numberless physical healings through Christian Science, together with a spiritual quickening that I never before thought possible. I was healed in what was to me a most wonderful manner, although I did not at that time realize it.
Out of gratitude for my quick healing, I submit the following testimony. On running to catch a train one evening, I fell and turned my ankle in such a way that it seemed impossible for me to proceed any farther.
