Testimonies of Healing

I was first attracted to Christian Science about three years ago, when a dear friend found me and told me of the healing power of divine Truth. To me it seemed too good to be true, but since then I have learned that only the good is true.

I did not come to Christian Science for physical healing, but for a heartache which seemed unbearable. I had access to the Christian Science literature for a year or two, but I did not take it up in earnest study until I had become very miserable and wretched.

I wish to express my deep gratitude for a recent healing in Christian Science. I had been asked to introduce a speaker to a society of children, and while talking to one of the older girls, a piano to be used on this occasion had to be moved.

In April, fifteen years ago, I received my first treatment in Christian Science. I was suffering with stomach and bowel trouble, and quite frequently was attacked with biliousness; and in seeking relief from these ills, I constantly took medicine.

It is almost five years since the occasion presented itself for me to look into Christian Science. I gladly availed myself of the privilege, and so numerous have been the blessings received during this period, that I gratefully give expression through this testimony to my unbounded gratitude.

In grateful acknowledgment of many benefits received in Christian Science, I gladly offer my testimony to the healing power of Truth. Three years ago my son, then five years of age, was afflicted with a complication of diseases.

An overflowing sense of gratitude prompts me to testify to the wonderful healing which has come to me through Christian Science. For over eight years I was afflicted with neuralgic pain, which would often increase until it seemed unbearable.

It is with a heart full of gratitude that I give this testimony, hoping it may be of benefit to some one seeking the truth. Six years ago, while living in Memphis, Tenn.

In reading over a testimony in the Journal for October, 1912, from one of the survivors of the Titanic disaster, I was forcibly reminded of a somewhat similar experience which came to me a few years ago. I was staying with a family who were Christian Scientists, and one morning we all went down to the river to bathe.

In reading recently of a doctor of medicine who had expressed through the columns of the press his disbelief that Christian Science could cure physical exhaustion, since medicine was powerless to relieve that condition, the conviction came to me that only ingratitude had so long prevented the acknowledgment through our publications of my own healing from this distressing ailment. Though it was not through physical healing that I became interested in Christian Science, at the time this teaching was first brought to my notice I was subject to such extreme exhaustion that when I reached home from business in the afternoon I was obliged to lie down, and was unable to participate in any activity during the evening.
