Testimonies of Healing

The great truth, called in this age Christian Science, has proved to us that God is not afar off, but near at hand, for we have had many demonstrations of Truth's power as available in all our needs. Our son was subject to bronchitis every winter.

I have often wished to give my testimony as to the healing power of Christian Science. In July, 1911, I fell and sustained a severe injury of the ankle.

With the hope that some one may be freed from the dreadful bondage of the tobacco habit, I desire to make public acknowledgment of my healing through the reading of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy.

It gives me pleasure to testify to the help and healing I received in Christian Science through the loving, patient, and faithful work of a sister-in-law, about three years ago. I was then suffering from great mental depression and nervous exhaustion; but after having tried medical means for some months, I turned to God as my only hope and helper, and was lifted out of this terrible condition of mind and body.

I am glad to testify to what Christian Science has done for me. About four years ago I suffered from a very severe throat trouble, and a specialist who treated my case told me that I had tubercular disease, also that my lungs were partly affected as well as my throat.

I will endeavor to relate a demonstration of healing in Christian Science which has always seemed of great importance to me. Over four years ago I was suffering from what is commonly known as cataract, a growth over the pupil of the eye.

Very soon after coming to live in Florence, Italy, toward the end of 1908, 1 heard of Christian Science for the first time through a friend who had borrowed a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. " She told me of what she read in it, at first more or less scoffingly, and then, gradually, she spoke more seriously.

I have been a student of Christian Science for over fifteen years. I did not resort to it for healing, but having read the Journal and Sentinel, I was satisfied that I had found the truth, and I then purchased a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs.

The testimonies of others have been so great a help and encouragement to me that it seems an imperative duty as well as a great privilege for me to add my own. The physical healing through Christian Science has not been so great a factor in my personal experience, although I am grateful for many most decided and satisfactory results following the declaration of the truth when error seemed to cry out; but I wish to express my appreciation of and gratitude for many loving-kindnesses which have been tendered me by Scientists who were practically strangers, and for many other benefits received through Christian Science.

I cannot say that I am a Christian Scientist, as I am a member of another church. I feel, however, that for the sake of others I should bear testimony to what God has done for me through Christian Science treatment.
