Testimonies of Healing

I wish to give thanks for all the blessings that have come to me and mine since my son sent us a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy over four years ago.

I wish to express my gratitude for blessings received through Christian Science. I have been lifted from the depths of torment, for I was afflicted with a severe nervous trouble before I became interested in this truth.

I have recently become so indebted to divine Providence through the instrumentality of Christian Science, that I feel it my duty to express my gratitude for the benefit of all those who may be wavering between doubt and confidence in it as a remedy for illness and severe injury. I am informed that it is the prevailing opinion among the medical profession generally, that within twenty-four hours from the time a man sustains the injury known as a broken back, paralysis or death will ensue; but such was not my experience.

About four years ago I received internal injuries from an accident on a street-car in Chicago. I was taken to a hospital, where I remained nine weeks, and was treated by five different doctors without receiving any help.

In January, 1905, after practising the exacting profession of dentistry for seven years, I broke down physically and mentally. In those seven years I had degenerated from an athlete to a wreck.

When physicians told me that a member of my family could never be well, that in fact this one had better be dead than in the condition which then existed (and this was caused by the use of drugs), for a time I was without hope, "and without God in the world. " Fortunately, about this time I heard of Christian Science, and that it was something which healed without drugs, so I borrowed a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs.

In loving gratitude for all the good that has come to me through Christian Science I write this testimony, hoping it may help some one who feels the need of strength and comfort as I did. I came to Christian Science not for physical healing but for more spiritual light.

Although it is nearly fourteen years since Christian Science came into my life, I have never before availed myself of the great privilege of sending my testimony to our periodicals. Yet this is one of the ways provided whereby Christian Scientists can help themselves and others, and I now, therefore, gladly avail myself of the opportunity.

[Translated from the German] I wish to join others in giving thanks for what Christian Science has done for me. My daughter had been afflicted with curvature of the spine since the age of seven, and all the material means which were resorted to, such as massage, orthopedic gymnastics, suspension, etc.

From a little child of five I sought to know the truth. I used constantly to implore God to make me love Him and serve Him, but not because I was afraid of Him.
