Testimonies of Healing

Shortly after I began to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, I was stricken with rheumatism.

I send my testimony in deep gratitude to God for enabling me to see, through the teachings of Christian Science, all my seeming difficulties and troubles vanish as sad dreams. As the blessed light of Truth flooded my consciousness, it dispelled the darkness of disease,—neuralgia, a stomach difficulty, and many other ailments which had made a slave of me for over twenty years.

I am one of a large family in which there was a great deal of sickness, my father and five brothers and sisters having passed away. I became so accustomed to illness that I did not expect to be free from it, and my religious training taught me that God sent sickness, as it was good for our development; that I must not expect to be happy in this life, but if I bore my lot with patience, I would reap my reward after death.

My first knowledge of Christian Science came to me on New Year day, 1907, through a friend to whom it had been proven of materia medica, as we read in the book of Job, "Ye are all physicians of no value. " I had been a sufferer for fourteen years from a very peculiar skin trouble, known to the physicians as a form of leprosy.

Seven years ago I was first healed in Christian Science. I had a severe attack of pleurisy with some complications and was very ill before a practitioner was called, but after the first treatment I had no fear.

Before becoming interested in Christian Science I was never well. I suffered almost constantly from headache; in fact, I could not remember a day in my life when I had been free from it, and for a long time I had severe attacks every few days.

For me to try to tell what Christian Science has done for me, would be like trying to gild fine gold. It has raised me up from slavery to a false appetite to a sense of life in God.

About four or five years ago I became interested in Christian Science, and since then I have received many blessings. I feel that I owe a debt which can only be paid by living the truth as taught in Science and Health, which is a very precious book to me.

I Realize that my gratitude for the many blessings which Christian Science has brought into my life can only be expressed by my efforts to live the truth as given to us by our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, and so plainly set forth in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by her.

I became interested in Christian Science about five years ago, not for my own physical healing, but because of my wife's experience. She had been treated by different doctors for years, but not receiving much benefit became very much discouraged, and I persuaded her to try Christian Science.
