Testimonies of Healing

My whole heart goes out in deepest gratitude to God for the benefits I have received from Christian Science, as taught by Mrs. Eddy in her book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.

I wish to express my gratitude for the blessings Christian Science has brought to me. Three and one half years ago the light of Truth dawned upon my thought.

I feel that I should express my gratitude to God for having led me to the knowledge of Christian Science, and for the many benefits I have received from it. Just one year ago I was told about Christian Science, of which I knew nothing beyond having read accounts in the newspapers of its wonderful cures.

In September, 1894, the writer, after nearly a year's illness of what was diagnosed by two physicians, as nervous prostration, was attacked by "wry-neck" or torticollis, the effect of the same being, through the contraction of certain neck muscles, that my head was twisted towards my left shoulder about as far as one can voluntarily turn one's face in that direction, and I could turn my face front only by the use of my hands, and after the hands were removed, my head would turn at once back to the unnatural position. Various drugs were experimented with in the effort to relax the contracted muscles, also electricity, and magnetic healing, so-called; finally it was decided by the physician in charge of my case, who was most devoted to my interest, that an operation might prove beneficial, and about an inch and a quarter of a nerve was removed.

For some time it has seemed clear to me that I might be able to help some one by giving an account of the benefits I have derived from Christian Science. I was for eighteen months troubled with a constant hacking cough, much expectoration, throat and lung trouble, short breathing, as well as asthma.

Eight years ago I suffered with cramp, also from choking sensation. Seven doctors were called in, and none could tell the name of my trouble or give me relief.

I wish to give you in a few words the experience which led me to accept Christian Science. As my physical condition was all right with the exception of a few insignificant ailments, my great help was the wonderful spiritual uplifting.

Several weeks ago I was trampled upon by a frightened horse and severely injured. The horse struck me in the back, on my right side, and leg.

It is just a little over a year ago that Christian Science dawned on my befogged consciousness and relieved me. For a period of about three years prior to this I had been suffering from what was designated by some of my physicians as sciatica.

I Desire through the pages of the Journal to express my love and gratitude to God and to our beloved Leader for her most precious gift to the world in our text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and for each of her other books and publications, and the Christian Science periodicals, which are all valuable to us. Words are utterly inadequate to express my gratitude to Mrs.
