Testimonies of Healing
One day , while I was in the rest-room at my office, I noticed disturbing evidence of an internal problem. I decided to call a Christian Science practitioner for metaphysical treatment to help me overcome whatever was wrong.
Ten years ago , my husband and I were moving into a newly constructed home. For several months prior to this, I had been experiencing pain and tightness of breath in my chest.
Some time ago my husband and I rented a home on a southern California beach. Our daughter and son-in-law were visiting for the weekend, and, being experienced bodysurfers, we enjoyed riding the waves very much.
Each time I wake to the sound of my young son scampering down the hall to our room, I silently thank God for bringing this precious child into our experience. When my husband and I decided to expand our family through adoption, we were quickly disheartened by the experiences of friends and by reports in the news media.
About two years ago I made a commitment to deepen my study of Christian Science in order to discover more of the spiritual truths in the Bible and in Mrs. Eddy's writings.
After many years as soloist for the branch Church of Christ, Scientist, of which I am a member, I retired from this position and did not expect to act in this capacity again. I stopped practicing and eventually found it difficult even to sing hymns.
Although I went to a Christian Science Sunday School as a child, I did not make this Science of Christianity my own until much later when I was in a position of urgent need. I had gone to a hospital emergency ward for treatment for a serious case of hives.
Christ Jesus admonished his listeners to "judge righteous judgment" ( John 7: 24 ) . I want to share two recent healings that came about because I refused to judge on the basis of the material evidence.
When I was married and had two children, my daughter had an eye that watered continually for at least a month. My husband was not a Christian Scientist at that time, and he wanted me to take her to a doctor.
Gratitude fills my heart as I look back over many years of healing in Christian Science, filled with opportunities to glorify God—opportunities that often come brilliantly disguised as unsolved problems for my family and me. My grandmother and my parents were dedicated Christian Scientists and always very active with church work.
