Testimonies of Healing

One morning , early in the year, I woke conscious of a sharp pain in my side. I immediately declared the truth, knowing to the best of my ability my spiritual selfhood— my sonship with God —and the nothingness of error.

My name is Kimberly Manning, and I was eight years old when this happened. When I was at my friend's house, we were playing a game in the spa where we swam to the bottom of the spa to try to make our voices sound different.

For several years I'd had a small blemish on my face, close to my hairline. I had occasionally tried to heal this through prayer, but no healing resulted.

When I was a little girl my mother was an invalid. A neighbor gave her a copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, and she was healed and lived a full and joyously active life.

I would like to share my gratitude and deep appreciation for the teachings of Christian Science. They have given me comfort, healing, and direction since I was a child.

I am a ballerina . My feet are very important to me.

In high school I was very involved in extracurricular activities and did not give much attention to academics. Consequently, upon entering college, I was concerned about my level of preparedness and fearful of academic failure.

Recently while I was reading the Bible Lesson, I particularly noticed the verse in which Christ Jesus says, "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends" ( John 15:13 ). This brought to thought an experience I had some years ago.

Christian Science has guided my life for over thirty years, but when I was growing up I didn't always see the relevance of this religion to my everyday life. At college I began to participate in serious drinking and partying.
