Testimonies of Healing
My family has been depending on Christian Science for healing through four generations. I am continuously glad for this wonderful understanding of God that was revealed by Mary Baker Eddy.
Last year we attended our daughter's college graduation. I remembered an experience we had had when she was attending a preschool and we'd just moved from another state.
One afternoon during the Christmas holidays, my grandmother phoned and asked for me. I was quite surprised to receive a call from her, asking for my help.
Our family is unspeakably grateful that my grandmother accepted the book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy when it was offered her in 1895. Five generations—of which I am the third—have now benefited from this book, the Christian Science textbook.
It surely was a wonderful, blessed day when Christian Science came into my life. Our whole family benefited greatly from this new way of life.
As a new student of Christian Science, I was very much impressed not only with this religion but also with the people who practiced it. I was in awe of the poise, dominion, love, joy, and intelligence I saw in the members of the first branch church I attended.
I have been a Christian Scientist for over seventy years, and wish to express my gratitude. I would like to share a healing I experienced recently.
The first few lines of a favorite hymn have these words: "From sense to Soul my pathway lies before me, /From mist and shadow into Truth's clear day" ( Christian Science Hymnal , No. 64 ).
I grew up in a home where ethical values were taught and lived, but where organized religion was considered hypocritical. I was, however, allowed to attend various churches with my friends, and learned to worship and love a God that was a best friend to me—an entity whom I trusted to help me with important decisions in my life.
At the beginning of 1991 I suddenly had pain in the kidneys and the symptoms of kidney stones. I was unable to perform my household duties and had to stay in bed.
