Testimonies of Healing

My recent childbearing experiences have helped me recognize that we are all equally God-created, spiritually originated, and eternally existent, and that understanding Christ and the Science of Christianity overcomes material limitations that deny this truth. Because of complications during labor, the physician attending the birth of our first child performed a Caesarean section.

I felt blessed as a child, being raised by an aunt and uncle who were studying Christian Science. Through their help I began to learn about God, who is good.

One afternoon close to the rush hour I was traveling in a streetcar. I remained seated from the first station to the last and was not paying any attention to my surroundings.

Throughout her writings Mrs. Eddy frequently indicates that the purpose of Christian Science is not physical healing alone, but the complete liberation from the illusion of a material universe and self.

There is much truth in the Bible verse ( Prov. 22:6 ), "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Ever since I was little I had a speech problem—like if I was going to say "car" it would come out "cow. " I had problems with the sh sound and s , but r was the worst.

In the early years of their married life, both my parents were healed through Christian Science. My mother had always been considered delicate.

By the time our first child was born, I had already suffered for several years from a nervous condition of the stomach—a recurring reaction from having taken what was then termed a "wonder" medication for colds. A few months after the birth, the obstetrician prescribed a hormone drug.

At one point I was asked by a highly successful husband-and-wife dress-manufacturing team to go into business with them. I would be designing my own line of dresses and manufacturing them, and the couple would put up the money.

Recently, I had occasion to climb to the top of a small mountain on an island in San Francisco Bay. It was a clear day, and I had an unobstructed view of the whole area.
