Testimonies of Healing
In 1975, the centenary year of the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, an optician told me, after long and repeated examinations, that he thought I had a very serious eye disease, which would render me blind in both eyes. Both he, and the doctor whom it was his professional duty to inform, each highly respected in the community, showed genuine concern for my future.
Years ago our daughter was healed of an infection of the inner ear. This healing caused us to rely radically on prayer for healing.
One hymn of praise to God, among many I sing, is gratitude for the Christian Science Benevolent Association. One morning a few years ago I could not seem to cope with anything.
The Christian Science Hymnal reminds us ( Hymn No. 3 ), "A grateful heart a garden is.
"Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else" ( Isa. 45:22 ).
It is wonderfully challenging to prove the power of God, Mind, in spiritual healing, even if it took two months to realize the healing I wish to relate here. I was driving to visit friends for a weekend, when my car left the parkway and somersaulted into an embankment.
When I was a very small boy, my mother shared with me truths of God and His care for man that she was learning from the Bible, and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. This made me aware of God as our Father and Mother, divine Love, who provides all good to His children.
"Are we really grateful for the good already received? Then we shall avail ourselves of the blessings we have, and thus be fitted to receive more. " These words by Mrs.
Our family has been greatly blessed by the study of Christian Science. It has been our sole physician since I was a child.
"Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!" ( Ps. 107:21.
