Testimonies of Healing

In 1918 my father, while in the Army, became ill with flu. He had been raised by devoted Protestant parents, and in a delirious state he called on God for help.

When I was about five years old, my mother, having heard of Christian Science through a friend, turned to it for healing for me. I had been suffering for some time from a stubborn, persistent cough that did not yield to medical treatment.

For me The Herald of Christian Science with its instructive articles and testimonies has always been a welcome and uplifting renewal of spiritual inspiration, and the weekly Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly , given us for study, enlarges my understanding of Christian Science. I was led to Christian Science prior to the Second World War.

In November 1976 a friend and I were visiting in a distant city. The morning we were to leave for home she waited at the hotel while I went to a garage to get my car.

Many, many years ago, before Christian Science came into my life, I suffered, according to medical diagnosis, from hypertension or high blood pressure. The common symptoms governed my daily routine.

I was born and raised in a family of Christian Scientists. As an infant, I was healed of a severe case of eczema; this healing has been permanent.

Christ Jesus said ( John 8:12 ), "I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. " I would like to tell how this promise came true in my experience.

My mother found Christian Science two years before I did. She gave me a copy of Science and Health by Mrs.

My commitment to Christian Science as a way of life began during my senior year in college. It had been a number of years since I had attended a Christian Science Sunday School, and I was seriously searching for a religion or philosophy to guide my life.

The merciful good of God is here for all. As a child, I conjured up dreams as a relief from the tainted environment surrounding me.
