Testimonies of Healing
Recently, while I was on a trip, a printed travel guide reminded me of my obligation toward the world. I have to testify that in the last twenty-five years Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mrs.
The seed of healing by Christian Science was first sown in my thought when I was twelve. My family lived near a large boardinghouse where government employees resided, including a doctor, a nurse, and a couple who had a little boy about eight years old.
For several years I suffered with very severe headaches which would leave me incapacitated for two or three days at a time. Periodically I asked for help through prayer from a Christian Science practitioner, but the headaches continued to plague me and increased in their frequency.
The greatest thing that I have found in Christian Science is the beginning of an understanding of God as our creator. Through God's revelation to Mary Baker Eddy, and her profound love in sharing it with the world in her book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures , we find the way to claim the loving care of our Father-Mother God.
Each day I look forward to study of the Bible Lesson in the Christian Science Quarterly . One of the lessons is entitled "God the Preserver of Man.
Innumerable blessings have come to my wife and me since we both joined The Mother Church the year before we were married. After serving in The Mother Church for a few years, we joined a branch church and then had the rewarding experience of class instruction.
The blessing of Christian Science came into the lives of my family in 1905. My mother had been pronounced incurable, with a complication of stomach disorders, by several medical specialists.
"Can Christian Science help my husband?" Many years ago my mother addressed this question to a friend who was fulfilling Christ Jesus' command, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven" ( Matt. 5:16 ).
Since my first testimony appeared in the January 1963 issue of the Journal , I have had many, many reasons to be grateful for all that Christian Science has done for me and my family. One healing of mine in particular had a great effect on the members of my family.
