Testimonies of Healing
The Herald of Christian Science (Spanish Edition) was the first direct contact we had with Science. The first things we read were the testimonies of healing.
"Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, that I am God" ( Isa. 43:12 ).
I'm grateful to share a healing that took place in our family in 1953. At that time I knew nothing of Christian Science.
For several weeks I was bothered, especially at mealtimes, by infected gums and tongue. I treated myself through prayer, but I did not make a consecrated effort to heal the condition.
"Be of good cheer; the warfare with one's self is grand; it gives one plenty of employment, and the divine Principle worketh with you,—and obedience crowns persistent effort with everlasting victory. " So writes Mrs.
We were refugees when Christian Science was presented to us at a time when we most needed it during the afterwar years in Germany. It was as "the light [that] shineth in darkness" ( John 1: 5 ).
The friend who invited me to my first Christian Science lecture did not speak of bodily healing, although she knew my need for it. She only said, "I thought you'd like to come out and learn about God.
I have been most grateful for the many testimonies on childbirth that have appeared in the Christian Science periodicals and that have told the many different ways in which this experience can be worked out. Our family, too, has proved that God's law of harmony can nullify material verdicts of inharmony.
I would like to relate a recent healing that again proved to me God's ever-presence and the healing power of Christian Science. One Tuesday afternoon I felt ill.
In my youth I had always enjoyed reading the Bible; I esteemed it more than other books—novels and the like. I wanted to have something true, certain, sure.
