Testimonies of Healing

The friend who invited me to my first Christian Science lecture did not speak of bodily healing, although she knew my need for it. She only said, "I thought you'd like to come out and learn about God.

I have been most grateful for the many testimonies on childbirth that have appeared in the Christian Science periodicals and that have told the many different ways in which this experience can be worked out. Our family, too, has proved that God's law of harmony can nullify material verdicts of inharmony.

I would like to relate a recent healing that again proved to me God's ever-presence and the healing power of Christian Science. One Tuesday afternoon I felt ill.

In my youth I had always enjoyed reading the Bible; I esteemed it more than other books—novels and the like. I wanted to have something true, certain, sure.

I should like to testify to the healing power of Christian Science and to the recognition of divine Science as the Comforter promised by Christ Jesus. A few years prior to World War II, I had started a manufacturing business with my brother.

How can I express my gratitude adequately for Christian Science? It has been my joy and guide for nearly half a century! Not only has Science come to my rescue in physical, financial, and business ills, and the many daily little affairs, but it has given me a spiritual understanding of the teaching of Christ Jesus. The prayer to more fully understand Christ Jesus' teaching brought me into Christian Science.

We received an invitation to a Christian Science lecture in a city one thousand kilometers away. It was the first Christian Science lecture my husband and I attended.

Eighteen years ago, a student of Christian Science but not yet a church member, I had been told by a gynecologist of a tumorous condition for which he advised immediate surgery. He thought it might be malignant.

I have every reason to be grateful for the ministrations of Christian Science and for Mary Baker Eddy, who discovered and presented this Science to the world. For over forty years her teachings have been my mainstay, and during that time I have witnessed some remarkable healings through a correct application of this Science.

My gratitude to God for Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, and for Mrs. Eddy, who obeyed his teaching, is boundless, for I have felt the redeeming power of the Christ, Truth, in my life.
