Testimonies of Healing
More than fifty years ago my husband asked me to let him call a Christian Science practitioner after material medicine had failed to heal me of a condition of toxemia. He had witnessed his father's healing of heart trouble through Christian Science treatment several years before I met him.
On a Christmas morning during World War II, a convoy of eight ships was traveling through mountainous seas. Our ship, on her maiden voyage, was a large ten-thousand-ton freighter with a crew of seventy-seven Americans.
Several years ago, when driving from our country home to the city, I was involved in a collision on a four-lane highway. From this time on I remember nothing about the accident except what was told to me by my husband and a Christian Science practitioner.
How wonderful are the words "gratitude" and "grateful"! Christian Scientists use them sincerely and continually to express thankfulness for this practical religion. One of the requirements for membership in The Mother Church and a branch church is that the applicant be free of the use of tobacco.
"Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!" ( Ps. 107:8.
As a child, through the prayer of a Christian Science practitioner I received a quick healing of a throat condition, which my mother had feared was diphtheria. For a few years I attended a Christian Science Sunday School in my hometown, and for one high school year I lived with kind relatives, who enrolled me for that period in The Mother Church Sunday School.
Christian Science came to me through the Sunday School. The family next door frequently invited me to attend Christian Science Sunday School with them.

When we were children our family's first contact with Christian Science was through a healing my mother had of what was then called a "quinsy throat.
I would like to express my gratitude for the healing many years ago of severe arthritis, which came through reading Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. I had been suffering from this problem for ten years, had been in and out of hospitals, where doctors had given me no hope of ever being able to walk without sticks again.
