Testimonies of Healing

As a child, through the prayer of a Christian Science practitioner I received a quick healing of a throat condition, which my mother had feared was diphtheria. For a few years I attended a Christian Science Sunday School in my hometown, and for one high school year I lived with kind relatives, who enrolled me for that period in The Mother Church Sunday School.

Christian Science came to me through the Sunday School. The family next door frequently invited me to attend Christian Science Sunday School with them.

While I have given many testimonies in branch churches, for many years it has been my intention to write a testimony to express my deep appreciation for Christian Science. When we were children our family's first contact with Christian Science was through a healing my mother had of what was then called a "quinsy throat.

I would like to express my gratitude for the healing many years ago of severe arthritis, which came through reading Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. I had been suffering from this problem for ten years, had been in and out of hospitals, where doctors had given me no hope of ever being able to walk without sticks again.

Christian Science, for me, is the most beautiful thing in the world, because it has fulfilled my longing to experience something heavenly. How did I come to this wonderful, practical religion? It was through God's goodness and guidance.

The Journal of November 1956 included a testimony expressing my gratitude for a healing in Christian Science. This took place on my first visit to a practitioner after about four years of invalidism.

For many years I have been a student of Christian Science and have enjoyed and have been helped by reading the testimonies in the periodicals. I became interested in Christian Science on witnessing the healing of deafness in a close friend of the family.

What a blessed privilege it is to be a student of Christian Science! Our family has had many healings in Science, and my own healings have been many and varied. When I was six years old, I had my first healing.
