We received an invitation to a Christian Science lecture in a city one thousand kilometers away. It was the first Christian Science lecture my husband and I attended. The lecture was given in a language we didn't understand, but I felt such a great love that I completely forgot my afflictions.
"He that touches the hem of Christ's robe and masters his mortal beliefs, animality, and hate, rejoices in the proof of healing,—in a sweet and certain sense that God is Love" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 569).
At the time I had a bladder ailment, and through the lecture I was healed; the Christ healed me. "'Now,' cried the apostle, 'is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation,'—meaning, not that now men must prepare for a future-world salvation, or safety, but that now is the time in which to experience that salvation in spirit and in life" (ibid., p. 39).
