Testimonies of Healing

Christian Science was introduced to my parents when I was a child, following a very beautiful healing which occurred in our family through this Science. As we lived far from any branch church or Christian Science Society, I did not have the privilege of being a pupil in the Sunday School.

Thirty-five years ago when my first testimony was published in The Herald of Christian Science, I gave thanks for my healing of an asthmatic condition of long standing. Today I can confirm with a grateful heart that this healing has proved to be permanent.

In 1951, my wife had a remarkable healing after several visits to a Christian Science practitioner, although she had had no former contact with the religion. I had been very concerned about her, and the healing aroused my interest.

Several years ago over a period of many months I experienced a nervous breakdown. In praying for me, the Christian Science practitioner undoubtedly saw I needed to express more joy.

One morning I awoke to find a large, painful swelling under my tongue. This condition persisted for two days and was so uncomfortable that I found it almost impossible to eat food or even swallow liquids.

I came into Christian Science about six years ago through a most wonderful healing. One afternoon while searching through the religious book section in the public library for a good Christian book that would help me to know God, all of a sudden a most wonderful feeling of peace and assurance came over me, and I knew within myself that God had already answered my prayer.

I attended a Protestant Sunday School from early childhood and joined the church at the age of twelve. However, I did not feel that this step gave me any greater understanding of the Christian religion, which I greatly desired.

For several years I was a registered medical nurse and instructor at a university college of nursing. I had had five years of college and nurses training, and was planning to complete work necessary to earn my master's degree in nursing education when I married a student of Christian Science.

I am profoundly grateful for my introduction to Christian Science. When I think of the past, I appreciate the realization that even through severe testing times my Father-Mother God has always been right there with me.
