Testimonies of Healing
I grew up in a home where both parents were devoted Christian Scientists. The many healings and demonstrations I witnessed laid a foundation in this wonderful religion, which later sustained me when I faced the greatest challenge of my life.
I want to thank God for everything I have learned in Christian Science. I especially want to give thanks for the restoration of my sight.
From my teen-age years, when I first began to practice the teachings of Christian Science, God has been my only physician. Through understanding prayer in Christian Science our family and home were protected during a devastating hurricane, and we have experienced numerous physical healings.
Over forty years ago I was given a copy of the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mrs. Eddy.
When I was a small child, doctors from a university medical school told my parents they could offer no hope of my recovery. The doctors weren't sure what the disease was but in the one similar case they knew about the child passed on.
More than eleven years ago I was seized with a condition in my feet and legs. There was swelling, and pain dogged me in everything I did.
Christian Science has been a wonderful help to me in raising a family and in establishing our home, activity, health, and supply on a firm, spiritual basis. Our two children, who are twelve and fifteen, have never received medication and have excellent health records.
When I first came to Christian Science, I was healed, through the prayerful work of a Christian Science practitioner, of thyroid trouble that had bothered me considerably for many years. The practitioner gave me some copies of The Herald of Christian Science to take home with me.
My parents took up the study of Christian Science while I was a very young child. We lived in a log cabin.
When Christian Science was first presented to me in 1915 by my fiancee, my thought was so completely dominated by orthodox religious and medical beliefs that I was not receptive. Fortunately, because of the regard I had for the girl I later married, I began to occasionally attend services in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, read some of the periodicals, and attend Christian Science lectures.
