"He that is our God is the God of salvation; and unto God the Lord belong the issues from death" (Ps. 68:20). The truth of this Bible verse was proved to me anew a year ago in an accident that was no fault of mine.
I was returning from my evening's walk with my little dachshund. At the controlled intersection in front of my house the traffic light showed green for me and I stepped into the street. In the corner of my eye I had glimpsed that an automobile was about to turn left from the cross street, but I knew from the traffic rules that he had to stop. Thus I had already passed the midpoint in the lane when I realized he was coming through. I was in no way, as they say, "paralyzed with fright," and felt no fear. I had turned toward the car and was thrown sideways to the left, the auto meanwhile having come to a halt. There were no head wounds; even my glasses were still on my nose, as I had fallen with my face on my outstretched arms. My chest hurt. Then I got up.
During this time I was conscious of ever-present, protective, divine Love. Mrs. Eddy writes in the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health (p. 397): "Declare that you are not hurt and understand the reason why, and you will find the ensuing good effects to be in exact proportion to your disbelief in physics, and your fidelity to divine metaphysics, confidence in God as All, which the Scriptures declare Him to be."
