The world is seeking for truth—truth in values and standards, in government and politics, in health laws, social relationships, religion, ethics. But the age-old question What is truth? can never be answered from a human basis, because what the human mind conceives of as truth today is often proved fable tomorrow.
Christ Jesus, the great Teacher of the ages, knew what truth is. Through his remarkable healing works he demonstrated a God who is Love and an infallible spiritual law underlying creation—a law of good, not evil, of harmony, health, and immortality. And he promised the full revelation of this law when human thought was prepared to receive it. The Master's promise has been fulfilled through Mary Baker Eddy's discovery and founding of the Christ Science or Christian Science. Recognizing her discovery as pure revelation, she prophesies of its effects: "This movement of thought must push on the ages: it must start the wheels of reason aright, educate the affections to higher resources, and leave Christianity unbiased by the superstitions of a senior period." Miscellaneous Writings, p. 235;
Christian Science proclaims God as infinite power, the source and substance of all that exists. Pure Science is absolute and final. It is not a human groping after truth but truth itself—God's knowledge of His own infinitude embracing the universe, His spiritual idea, in the omniscience, omnipotence, and omnipresence of Spirit, here and now. Under the lens of Science matter disappears, for where and how can matter exist where Spirit, God and His idea, is the One and Only? The very word "universe," with its prefix stemming from the Latin root meaning "one," indicates Mind's complete inclusion of every aspect of its infinite idea or concept of itself. "Whither shall I go from thy spirit?" the Psalmist sang. "If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me." Ps. 139:7, 9, 10;
