Testimonies of Healing
About sixteen years ago my family and I were planning to take a trip to visit some relatives. We decided to leave very early in the morning in order to cross a desert area before the heat of the day.
We had been invited, among others, to the home of friends for dinner after attending the Thanksgiving Day service in a Church of Christ, Scientist. While our children were playing with those of our hosts in an upstairs room, an urgent cry summoned me.
"Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me" ( Isa. 45:11 ).
The most cherished memory of my childhood is the one of my first day in the Christian Science Sunday School. Prior to this one of my treasures had been a book of children's Bible stories.
One Saturday I asked a Christian Science practitioner to help me through Christian Science treatment to destroy a severe case of influenza. By the following Monday there was very little physical improvement, but it was essential for me to be in the office to take over a new department and handle many items requiring immediate attention.
I can hardly find adequate words to express my deep gratitude for Christian Science. For me, it is truly the central interest in my life.
One day in response to an application for employment I received an airmail letter from a school in Honolulu offering me a contract for the coming year and instructing me to reply at once. This letter had been forwarded to me from my former address, and upon receiving it, to my momentary dismay, I saw from the dates that it had been held for two weeks prior to being forwarded.
It is with a deep sense of gratitude to God for leading me into Christian Science that I submit this testimony in the hope that it will help others see that "with God all things are possible" ( Matt. 19:26 ).
My introduction to Christian Science came at the age of four years when I was enrolled in a Christian Science Sunday School. The logic of its teachings and the intelligent presentation of the Bible to the young children, in contrast to the parties and play I had experienced in the orthodox Sunday School I formerly attended, were apparent to me even at that early age.
My father became a Christian Scientist in my early childhood, but Science was not accepted for the children of the family. He was completely transformed and given a new start in life through Christian Science.
