Testimonies of Healing
On a summer morning in 1929 while taking a strenuous ride on horseback, I became very tired. As there was nothing in sight on the road, I loosened the reins and relaxed in the saddle.
My heartfelt gratitude for Christian Science can no longer remain unexpressed. When I was a girl in my early teens, my mother sent me to the Christian Science Sunday School.
" With God all things are possible," the Bible tells us ( Matt. 19:26 ).
I wish to express my sincere and heartfelt gratitude to God for the many blessings I have received since becoming a student of Christian Science. To Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, to Mary Baker Eddy, our revered Leader, and to the early students who in their faithfulness helped to establish this Science of Christianity, I owe my enduring thanks.
The Psalmist sang of God ( Ps. 40:2 ), "He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
In the Bible we read ( Prov. 3:5, 6 ): "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
Mrs. Eddy tells us on page 266 of Science and Health that Love will force us to accept what best promotes our growth.
About fifty years ago my mother's eldest sister was a semi-invalid on account of a kidney disorder which various kinds of medical treatment, including an operation, had failed to cure. Through Christian Science treatment she was permanently healed of this difficulty.
It is with profound gratitude and an unwavering faith that God is always near to guard and guide His children that I offer this testimony. When I was four years old, my mother passed on, and my younger sister, my brother, and I were taken into the home of an aunt who was a member of The Mother Church and a branch church.
Over a period of some thirty-five years, during which I have been studying Christian Science and depending upon it for healing, it has always met my need. I became interested in Christian Science through the healing of a physical condition variously diagnosed as neuralgia, muscular rheumatism, and pinched nerves.
