Testimonies of Healing
I have expressed my gratitude for Christian Science vocally many times at Wednesday evening meetings in Churches of Christ, Scientist, and at testimony meetings held by students of Science in the armed forces. It is now time that I share my experience through our periodicals.
" Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies" ( Ps. 103:2-4 ).
As a child my mother made friends with a little girl who later went to live in Western Australia. About the year 1916 this friend returned on a visit and in a long and earnest conversation told my mother that she had been healed through Christian Science of a severe case of consumption.
" The light of the body is the eye; if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light" ( Matt. 6:22 ).
" Are we really grateful for the good already received? Then we shall avail ourselves of the blessings we have, and thus be fitted to receive more. " This arresting admonition written by our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, on page 3 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" has awakened me to the importance of expressing my gratitude for all the benefits our family has received for many years through the study and application of Christian Science.
It is with a deep desire to encourage others to turn wholeheartedly to God for healing that I write this testimony. About fifteen years ago I was taken ill with a severe case of colitis.
At long last I wish to take advantage of the opportunity offered through the Christian Science periodicals to express grateful acknowledgment of the benefits Science has brought me, including indispensable help in the solution of the problems of life. It is my desire to give praise and thanks to our loving God and to acknowledge His Son, Christ Jesus, as the Way-shower.
" Many , O Lord my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered" ( Ps. 40:5 ).
With a grateful heart I give praise and thanks to God for Christian Science. As did Job (19:25) , I too can say, "I know that my redeemer liveth.
For many years I have found joy and inspiration in reading the testimonies in our periodicals. I am grateful to share with others some of the experiences that have meant so much to me since I first became interested in Christian Science.
