Testimonies of Healing
As one who has benefited immeasurably from the healing efficacy of Christian Science, I wish to offer my testimony in humble gratitude for this precious teaching which our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, has given us so freely.
I wish to tell of an experience I had on shipboard while returning from a tour of Europe. About ten days before this time I had been attacked by a severe cold, which settled in my throat and ears.
When a girl I began studying Christian Science literature. The beauty of the truth shone forth as a light, and I began to understand that man, made in God's image, expresses Him in spiritual qualities such as love, fearlessness, and so on.
A testimony of mine appeared in the June, 1935, Journal. Today I am more convinced than ever that Christian Science is indeed the pearl of great price.
The teachings of Christian Science have met my every need for some years now. It would be impossible for me to be too grateful for them.
So completely has my outlook changed from despair and frustration to happiness, joy, and deep gratefulness that I feel a compelling urge to send my testimony. A grateful heart a garden is, Where there is always room For every lovely, Godlike grace To come to perfect bloom.
It is with great joy and happiness that I share the wonderful blessings that have come to me and mine. Through Christian Science the darkest and most fearful hour I have ever experienced was changed to one of joy, confidence, and faith.
Many years ago I first witnessed the efficacy of Christian Science when my mother was quickly healed of a broken bone in her foot. The family was deeply impressed, as we did not know anything at all about Christian Science at the time, and my mother had tried it only on the recommendation of a loving friend.
" He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken" ( Ps. 34:20 ).
Thirty years ago I accepted Christian Science as my guide to life when a friend showed me "the scientific statement of being" on page 468 of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. When I read, "All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all," I realized that therein was a definition of God which had meaning for me and which I could accept without reservation.
