
Testimonies of Healing
The Psalmist sang of God ( Ps. 40:2 ), "He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
In the Bible we read ( Prov. 3:5, 6 ): "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
Mrs. Eddy tells us on page 266 of Science and Health that Love will force us to accept what best promotes our growth.
About fifty years ago my mother's eldest sister was a semi-invalid on account of a kidney disorder which various kinds of medical treatment, including an operation, had failed to cure. Through Christian Science treatment she was permanently healed of this difficulty.
It is with profound gratitude and an unwavering faith that God is always near to guard and guide His children that I offer this testimony. When I was four years old, my mother passed on, and my younger sister, my brother, and I were taken into the home of an aunt who was a member of The Mother Church and a branch church.
Over a period of some thirty-five years, during which I have been studying Christian Science and depending upon it for healing, it has always met my need. I became interested in Christian Science through the healing of a physical condition variously diagnosed as neuralgia, muscular rheumatism, and pinched nerves.
During the time I have known Christian Science this religion has brought me so many blessings that I feel it is a precious duty to give this testimony. My first healing was of rheumatic fever.
In 1934 I was in a state of discouragement and desperation over my financial condition. After I had exhausted every material means, I turned humbly to God for help and guidance.
Christian Science is the greatest blessing that has come into my life. Although I was a doubting Thomas when I first heard of this religion, it healed me in one treatment of prolapse of an internal organ after I had used material means for two years.
Before I found Christian Science, I was in delicate health because of heart trouble. Faced with the necessity of helping to raise our two children and also of increasing the family income by taking in boarders, I broke down mentally and physically.
