Testimonies of Healing
My first knowledge of Christian Science came when I was a girl of fourteen. At that time my older sister had been told by specialists that she would be blind in a few-weeks and would never see again, as there was nothing that could be done for her type of eye affliction.
With a heart overflowing with gratitude I give this testimony. I searched for many years for a religion that would bring God nearer to me and attended many orthodox churches.
I feel that it is my duty to show my appreciation of the spiritual understanding and healing I have gained by the study of Christian Science. For a period of seven years I was a patient in various hospitals, fighting a far-advanced case of tuberculosis.
Twenty-five years ago, while I was living in a small town where Christian Science was unknown, my sister sent me the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, saving that people were healed through the study of Christian Science.
Because my heart is so full of joyous thanksgiving, I wish to express my gratitude for Christian Science once again through one of our periodicals. Since my first testimony, published in 1936, I have had a number of physical healings, among them those of heavy colds, lumbago, and the effects of accidents.
I am very grateful to God for having led me into marriage with a Christian Scientist. My interest in his religion began when I found that I had read every book in our possession with the exception of my husband's well-worn copy of Science and Health by Mrs.
It is with profound gratitude that I acknowledge the good that has come to me and to others of my family through the study and application of Christian Science. My brothers, sister, and I have been blessed with a mother who early taught us the importance of regular attendance at a Christian Science Sunday School and encouraged us to apply the truths we learned there to our every problem.
" Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!" These words, repeated four times in the one hundred and seventh Psalm, prompt me to comply with them by sending a testimony for publication. Although I have voiced my thanks at Wednesday testimony meetings in Churches of Christ, Scientist, I feel that I have too long delayed expressing my gratitude through the periodicals.
I am humbly and deeply grateful for Christian Science, and I should like to share with others a few of the many reasons for my gratitude. That Christian Science protects as well as cures is to me an established fact.
In Isaiah ( 35:4 ) we read, "Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not. " Christian Science enabled me to understand why I need not fear.
