Testimonies of Healing

As a child I plied my Sunday School teachers and my minister with questions about the healings of Christ Jesus. Disappointment followed disappointment as I received no satisfying answers.

A long-delayed expression of my gratitude for blessings received through the study and application of Christian Science is offered here with the hope that it will help others as I have been helped. Several years' attendance in the Sunday School, where I learned to love and revere our precious Leader, Mrs.

As a young girl of fourteen years I began to doubt the teachings of the church I then attended. I could not accept the explanations that were given in answer to my sincere questions, and for years I never opened a Bible willingly.

In deep appreciation of the health, guidance, and protection which have come to me through the study and application of Christian Science, I should like to offer firsthand evidence of its efficacy. On numerous occasions during World War II the omnipresence and omnipotence of Mind were proved to me.

Many times I have been helped by reading the testimonies of healing published in the Journal and in the Christian Science Sentinel. Thus the desire has come to me to express my gratitude through this means for the many healings my family and I have received through the study and application of Christian Science.

Christian Science has met my every need when properly applied. Some healings have been slow, while others have been instantaneous.

In her book "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, gives us the comforting assurance ( pp. 149, 150 ): "Remember, thou canst be brought into no condition, be it ever so severe, where Love has not been before thee and where its tender lesson is not awaiting thee.

Because of Christian Science I have a great deal for which to be grateful. It has taught me what is true of God and man, filling my life with joy, peace, and spiritual activity.

Gratitude for more than thirty years of protection and guidance through Christian Science prompts me to submit this testimony. As a boy I thought the healings related in the Bible were very natural, and I could not understand why sickness could not be healed by prayer, as Jesus taught.

Before my first visit to a Christian Science Reading Room I wanted to die, but I also wanted to know more about God. Although I had attended an orthodox church and Sunday School since I was a child, I was not satisfied with what I had been taught.
