Testimonies of Healing
For over thirty-five years I have enjoyed the blessings Christian Science bestows upon us in the ratio that we practice its teachings, and I feel it is high time that I expressed in writing the gratitude I feel. My life was quickly transformed by Christian Science from that of a sickly child to that of a healthy one as I eagerly drank in its truths.
I had the privilege of being brought up in Christian Science and of attending Sunday School from the age of six. I could scarcely begin to tell here of the countless blessings and healings which have taken place in my own experience and that of my family.
It is with an earnest desire to share my blessings, brought about through the application of Christian Science, that I write this testimony. For many years I have had a great desire to do this, but I thought I did not have any important healings to relate.
In her poem "Christ My Refuge" (Poems, p. 12 ) our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, describes the comfort of the Christ, Truth, as it establishes one securely on the rock of Life.
It is over thirty years since Christian Science came into my life and healed my baby daughter after several doctors, including a famous baby specialist, had failed to bring her health. She was so thin that strangers were shocked at seeing her.
Christian Scientists soon learn that their textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, is literally a treasure house of truths, any one of which is capable of healing them of human ills. One morning during an influenza epidemic I found it extremely difficult to rise and was able to do so only after considerable effort.
It is wonderful and comforting to know that Christian Science is indeed the second appearing of the Christ, Truth, on earth today and that it is able to heal every ill. Of this healing truth I have had many proofs.
The fruitage which has come into my experience since Christian Science first began to influence my thought and conduct many years ago has been indescribably rich. My first blessing, which was due to the spiritual-mindedness of a Christian Science lecturer, was that I received its teachings in the way described in the chapter on Fruitage in Science and Health by Mrs.
The testimonies given in the Journal and the Christian Science Sentinel, as well as at the Wednesday testimony meetings, have helped me on countless occasions. I am grateful for working Christian Scientists everywhere and should like to relate a healing which took place because of the alertness of some Christian Science friends.
My first experience in Christian Science came in 1919. For years I had tried to find a satisfactory definition of God, but my search had been without success.
