Over twenty years ago I walked into a Christian Science Reading Room and bought a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," which had been recommended to me as a worth-while book to read. The pleasant-faced woman who sold me the book was the first Christian Scientist I had ever seen, as the friend who told me about the book did not then claim to be a Scientist.
" O sing unto the Lord a new song; for he hath done marvellous things. " How greatly we can rejoice that these wonderful words contain the same truth today as at the time they were sung by the Psalmist! And we cannot be grateful enough to the dear Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, for giving anew to mankind this seemingly lost good which our Master, Christ Jesus, also taught and proved.
In gratitude to our Father-Mother, God, and to our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for the blessings received through the application of the truth as revealed in Christian Science, I submit this testimony. I did not become interested in Christian Science through a desire for physical healing.
My interest in Christian Science was first awakened by the healing, in 1906, of a member of my family of a so-called incurable disease, after doctors had given her up and declared that there was no help for her. During the first reading of the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs.
Christian Science has brought untold blessings into my experience in the years since I first began the study of this all-satisfying truth. One healing in particular which has brought me immeasurable freedom took place in the first year or so.
" It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord. " I wish to express my gratitude for the numerous blessings I have received through the study and application of Christian Science.
Like thousands of others, I feel I must add my expression of gratitude for Christian Science and its blessings. I became interested in this Science over ten years ago, at a time when I was seeking for the right religion.
Christian Science found me in a state of hopeless despair. Due to a severe operation, which left me in a worse state than before, I was extremely nervous and was also losing weight and strength rapidly.
When I was a little girl I had a playmate who attended the Christian Science Sunday School, and whose mother radiated so much love as a student of this Science that I found myself attracted to the very name "Christian Science," and so it was that I began attending the Sunday school, and a short time later my brother also began attending. Thus it was that the healing message of Truth was brought into our home.
