Testimonies of Healing

When I first heard of Christian Science and had attended a testimony meeting, I felt it was a practical religion and just what I needed. With the study of this Science came a gradual change in my thinking, from a material to a spiritual basis.

How often I have wanted to write my testimony of gratitude for the many benefits I have received in Christian Science! I attended a Christian Science Sunday School from the time I was eight years old and have been a member of The Mother Church and a branch church for many years. There has been abundant evidence of the power of Truth in my experience.

One evening, when our only child was two years old, she was suddenly stricken very ill, becoming delirious almost immediately. Although we had had several healings in Christian Science, we had not the slightest understanding of it.

For fourteen years I was bothered by a nerve trouble, so that only occasionally was I able to carry on my business. Physicians' treatment, medicine, cures, and rest sojourns gave rise to considerable expense.

My wife and I became interested in Christian Science about nine years ago, hoping that through it she might be healed of a skin disease known as psoriasis, from which she had suffered since girlhood. Year by year the discordant condition was becoming more pronounced, and it had been declared incurable by the many medical practitioners by whom my wife had been treated.

Christian Science has changed my whole life, and it is with great joy and gratitude that I recount some of the innumerable blessings that have come to me through its study and application. My first physical healing was of a tumor.

About fifteen years ago our family physician had made arrangements for the removal of tonsils from two of our children and myself. This seemed necessary, as the children had continuous sore throat, and one of them had eye trouble to the extent that a noted eye specialist had told us that the eyes would never be right until the tonsils were removed.

Our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, says in " The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" (p. 164), "What is gratitude but a powerful camera obscura , a thing focusing light where love, memory, and all within the human heart is present to manifest light.

Christian Science has awakened me to see and understand something of the grand inheritance that is mine as a child of the one Father-Mother God. For this awakening I am grateful.

I wish humbly to express my gratitude for Christian Science. It means everything to me.
