Testimonies of Healing

With a heart full of joy and gratitude I wish to give my testimony as follows: I came to Christian Science only after experiencing a deep sense of discouragement because life seemed vain, and presented so much injustice. I made the acquaintance of a Christian Science practitioner, who seemed to me the embodiment of peace and rest.

It is with a great sense of joy and gratitude that I testify to the healing efficacy of Christian Science. I had been interested in this Science for about two years when the so-called influenza epidemic broke out during the time of the world war.

It is with my most sincere thanks to Christian Science that I send this testimony. I have known of this Science for nine years, and my thoughts have been so uplifted by the understanding of God and His perfect creation that I am daily realizing my birthright of complete health.

I did not come into Christian Science seeking a religion, but looking for a remedy for the ills of the flesh. The doctors—and I had tried every kind—did not claim that I had any incurable trouble, but that I had many chronic ones; and most of the time I was uncomfortable and discontented.

On page 162 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mrs. Eddy says, "Christian Science brings to the body the sunlight of Truth, which invigorates and purifies.

I want to give thanks for all the testimonies I have been privileged to read, for they have meant much to me during the past fifteen years; and now I, too, should like to share with others the blessings that have come to me through the study of Christian Science. The truth has operated in our home to prove the nothingness of the following errors: tonsillitis, severe colds, grippe, poison ivy, ingrowing nail, extreme nervousness, piles, smallpox, sprained ankle, and a broken friendship; also a stolen car was returned.

More than forty years ago Christian Science came into my childhood home through the healing of my mother of Bright's disease in its last stage. As a result of this healing my father, my mother, and their eight children took up the study of this Science.

In 1916, during the war, I was wounded in the head by a bullet, which caused me considerable suffering. I turned to many doctors for help, but received only temporary relief.

My first interest in Christian Science came at a time when injustice in a business problem was attempted against me. I tried every other means, but to no avail.

Before learning the truths of Christian Science I believed it to be just another church wherein we could worship "the unknown God. " After exhausting all medical science, submitting to several operations, both major and minor, trying electrical treatments, osteopathy, baths, and rest cure, I was no better, but rather grew worse.
