Testimonies of Healing

Since I have been a student of Christian Science it has been proved to me that any kind of human ill can be dispelled by the truth as understood in Christian Science; and I am especially grateful that I have been able to prove in my own experience that grief is no more difficult to heal through Christian Science than any other woe, although it seems to human sense that time alone can heal the heart of the fear for and loss of departed loved ones. Returning home late one night I learned that my mother, dearest in all the world to me, and from whom I had scarcely been separated in over thirty years except for the period of military service, had been in an accident a few hours before and had passed on within a few minutes.

Since childhood I had sought after a religion that would give me entire satisfaction because the dogma of the religion to which I subscribed did not still my longing. But many years passed during which I was prepared by deep sorrow to accept the right understanding of God as presented by Christian Science; that understanding which reconciles religion and Science.

For the many healings that have come to my family and to me through the study and application of the truth as taught in Christian Science I wish to express gratitude. We have had many proofs that God never fails us when we trustingly turn to Him for help.

The testimonies in the Journal and the Sentinel mean so much to me that I hope my contribution may help someone as I have been helped. It is not always testimonies of the most striking healings that help, I find, but sometimes an indication of patience, trust, and endurance in spite of small results.

" Neither organic inaction nor overaction is beyond God's control; and man will be found normal and natural to changed mortal thought, and therefore more harmonious in his manifestations than he was in the prior states which human belief created and sanctioned" ( Science and Health, p. 125 ).

My first knowledge of Christian Science came not through a healing, but because the seed was sown when I was visiting in a western city. It was only three months afterwards, however, when I was in a hospital and was not expected to live, that I called upon Christian Science for healing.

A little over three years ago a coworker handed me a Christian Science Sentinel which I read from cover to cover. Then, after attending one Wednesday evening testimony meeting and a lecture on the following day, I sought a Christian Science practitioner.

When Christian Science came to me I was living continually in a state of despair, and was constantly depressed by fears of various kinds. My first healing took place soon after I became interested in this wonderful truth.

Over twenty-four years ago, when we were struggling in darkness with seemingly endless suffering, one of our neighbors asked us to try Christian Science, of which we had never heard. As a relative who had been paralyzed was in the hospital, not expected to live, and I was under medical treatment for kidney trouble of long standing, also a nervous breakdown, we quickly decided to give it a trial.

Christian Science has increased my understanding of the Bible and has taught me the ever present availability of divine Love to meet our needs. The wonderful healing of a goiter of many years' standing will always be remembered not only for the physical freedom, but for the lesson it taught me by proving Mrs.
