Testimonies of Healing

I always loved goodness and purity and joined an orthodox church at the age of thirteen; but as my observation increased and my thinking grew analytical I more or less discarded belief in religion as I had found it, and came to believe that ethics was the only reasonable ideal. At that time, fifteen years ago, our eldest son, then a baby of ten months, was given up by the doctors.

About five years ago a filling came out of a back tooth and the tooth was most painful. At the time I was doing work that made it difficult for me to get to the dentist without asking for special time off, so an appointment was made for two weeks later.

I have known of Christian Science since my mother received a physical healing over twenty years ago and became a healthy, active woman through the operation of this truth which makes free. I was not with her at the time, but I commenced to attend the Christian Science services in preference to those of other denominations.

Christian Science has saved me, as well as my family, from all kinds of sickness for more than twenty years. Before Christian Science came to me my parents and I were believers in paganism, the worship of many spirits.

When I found Christian Science I had been through long years of illness. Even as a child I suffered from an intestinal disease for which I had continuous medical treatment.

I have so often been helped by testimonies which I have read in the Christian Science periodicals that it has seemed as if I could ".

In the spring of 1914, after about two months of honest study of Science and Health, I was healed of the tobacco habit, and from that time to this there has been no desire for smoking in any form. Right after this experience followed the healing of weak eyesight, headaches, dizziness in hot weather, influenza, and several other ailments.

I wish to express my sincere appreciation of Christian Science and for all the good that it has brought to me and to our home. I am grateful beyond words for many healings of physical limitations; for the Christian Science Sunday School, where our three children are being brought up and taught to work out their own problems with their understanding of the truth; for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church; and to our revered Leader, who through great self-sacrifice revealed this demonstrable truth to us all.

I should like to express my sincere gratitude for Christian Science by relating a healing which I experienced. When a youth I was in an accident in which I lost part of one limb.

My heart is so filled with joy and gratitude for the wonderful blessings that have been mine in the past that I want to share it with the readers of the Journal . In the year 1886 my mother, who had been a semi-invalid the greater part of her life, went to a Christian Science practitioner for treatment, but not receiving any physical benefit, she decided that Christian Science was too deep for her.
