Testimonies of Healing

My heart is so filled with joy and gratitude for the wonderful blessings that have been mine in the past that I want to share it with the readers of the Journal . In the year 1886 my mother, who had been a semi-invalid the greater part of her life, went to a Christian Science practitioner for treatment, but not receiving any physical benefit, she decided that Christian Science was too deep for her.

Among my earliest recollections are discussions of religion among my parents and grandparents. It was but natural that in this openminded and inquiring atmosphere Christian Science should have early made its appearance.

About eight years ago my attention was drawn to Christian Science by the wonderful healing of an acquaintance who, by means of Christian Science treatment, had been healed of cancer of the stomach. At that time I was a sick woman.

For some time I have felt the urge to express my gratitude for all the blessings Christian Science has bestowed upon me during the past eleven years and to do it in such a way that it may reach out and bless others. In 1922 my mother was healed of a severe case of quinsy, a complaint which had caused her much suffering every winter for years.

Many and varied have been the benefits I have received from the study and application of Christian Science during the past quarter of a century. We were a sickly family and much of my early life was spent in suffering and seeing others suffer.

Christian Science has brought me so many benefits that I see the time has come for me to add my testimony to those of others. Over fifteen years ago I was led to visit the only Christian Scientist in our town.

I am sending this testimony with a heart full of love and gratitude for our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, and for her faithful followers who are carrying on her work with such pure and unselfish lives. After medical care, electricity, baths, osteopathy, and rest cure had failed to help me, a dear one asked me to try Christian Science.

I have long wished to express my gratitude for Mrs. Eddy's discovery of Christian Science, and for her consecration to the discovery, proving its truth by demonstration.

In the year 1925 our little boy was born under most harmonious conditions, but it was discovered that the baby's legs were twisted, the feet turned, and the ankle bones at the top of the feet instead of in their normal position. Christian Science treatment was given and the right leg was healed almost immediately, but not the left leg.

It is with a deep feeling of gratitude that I verify my wife's testimony of our boy's healing, and testify to the healing power of Christian Science, through an enlightened understanding of the Bible, as given in Science and Health. I have been healed of hernia which had held me in bondage for many years; for this and the healing of other discordant conditions which have succumbed to the application of Christian Science treatment, I am most grateful.
