Testimonies of Healing

The testimonies in the Journal and the Sentinel have always been a source of inspiration to me, giving me courage to go on when doubt and discouragement seemed overwhelming. With the hope that my experience in Christian Science may help others, I am sending this expression of gratitude.

I should like to express deep thanks for the many blessings which I have received through Christian Science. As a child I was ill a great deal, and seemed to be readily susceptible to illness and contagion, and took cold very easily.

" The word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. " That this word of God is as efficacious today as it was in the time of the apostles, illustrates the eternality of the Christ in healing the sick and the sinner, and fulfills Scriptural promises.

I wish to tell of some of the many blessings which have come to us through the study and application of Christian Science. As a child I always longed to know God, and attended different churches and Sunday schools, but never seemed to find that for which I was longing.

As I have never failed to receive spiritual uplifting from the testimonies in the periodicals, I wish to add mine with an earnest desire that it in turn may help someone. In our family of five, Christian Science has always healed when earnestly and honestly applied.

My introduction to Christian Science did not come through healing, although I was greatly in need of healing at the time. In 1926, after I had submitted to an operation in the hope that it might correct a condition which had given me trouble for some years, it was found that the condition had not been corrected, and it seemed necessary to return to the hospital for observation.

The testimonies in the Journal and Sentinel have filled such a need in our family that I realize one way to prove my gratitude for them is to send in my testimony. But when I sit down to recount all the blessings I have received in almost thirty years, they are more than can be numbered; and more than ever I realize what a place Christian Science has filled in my life.

It is with a deep sense of gratitude for the blessings that have come to me through the study of Christian Science that I give this testimony regarding the help I have received in the past twenty years. The Christian Science textbook was first handed to me when I was very sick.

My first experience in Christian Science was the healing of a so-called incurable disease, when the doctors could do nothing more for me. A friend, who knew a Christian Scientist, asked me if I would try this Science.

Christian Science came to me when I was a child, and all through the years, as I have learned to follow the Christ-way as taught in Christian Science, I have proved beyond all cavil that the Word of God is indeed a covert from the storms of earthly experiences, where we may enter and abide in safety. Among my experiences the following taught me very clearly that spiritual progress, not time, brings mental and physical healing.
