I wish to express gratitude for the teachings of Christian Science. For many years I was unable to see Mrs.
It was my privilege and joy to have Christian Science presented to me in 1917, when I was suffering both mentally and physically, and was greatly discouraged. At that time a member of my family called in a doctor, but I refused to take any medicine or to let him treat me.
Reading the word "conjunctivitis" brought to my thought a healing I had four years ago, when Christian Science first became known to me. I had suffered for a number of years with this most distressing disease, which recurred regularly every November, each time becoming worse.
In our home, in the more than twenty-five years that we have been studying Christian Science, we have had many glorious glimpses of the "kingdom of heaven" spoken of by Jesus, and defined in part by our Leader as "the reign of harmony in divine Science" ( Science and Health, p. 590 ).
It is indeed a privilege to testify to the healings and many blessings which I have received through the study and application of Christian Science. Before coming into Science I had medical aid constantly, for I had been subject to bronchitis from childhood.
I am grateful for the blessed privilege of testifying to the healing power of Christian Science as given to us of God through "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. About three years ago my prospects of material existence were so black, and I was so filled with fear, that the very thought of having to go on suffering constantly from day to day seemed, to say the least, unbearable.
As a child and young woman I was never strong and was frequently ill. After leaving school I was constantly under the care of physicians.
Christian Science has done so much for me that the words in the Manual of The Mother Church ( Art. XVII, Sect.
I wish to express my sincere gratitude for Christian Science, together with my profound reverence for Mary Baker Eddy, its Discoverer and Founder. From boyhood I had suffered with a badly diseased throat and for over thirty years with a serious stomach and intestinal disease.
Many years ago I heard my mother mention Christian Science, and later the subject was brought up in a Sunday school class which I attended. The desire which, we are told on page 1 of the textbook, "is prayer" was born in my consciousness to know and understand something of this religion.
