Testimonies of Healing
I have had many blessings through Christian Science, both through my own understanding and with the help of loving, faithful practitioners and friends. I had been under the care of doctors all my life, faithfully following their instructions, but continually growing worse.
Of the many blessings I have received in Christian Science since I became a student I wish to mention two which have been a great help to me. One was the healing of rheumatism.
Over twenty years ago Christian Science came to me in time of great need. I had been sick in bed for many weeks with what the doctors called peritonitis.
As a student of Christian Science who has much to be thankful for I want to tell of what this new-old religion has done for me during the sixteen years that I have endeavored to follow its teachings. For many years I had little interest in religion.
My first healing in Christian Science was instantaneous. I had experienced a great sorrow, and life did not seem to be worth living; moreover, my health was in a very bad condition.
I am so grateful for my healing of asthma that I should like to tell it to everyone suffering from this malady. When every known remedy had failed and I was given no hope by the doctors, except temporary relief, I consented to try Christian Science, still feeling that I was beyond help.
I am grateful for finding God, and learning that He is good and does not send discords to punish man. In the healing of our son there was no medicine used after help was asked from a Christian Science practitioner.
Christian Science has healed disease and discord for me many times. Over seven years ago my son, who was four years old at the time, fell from the front seat of a car which was traveling twenty-five miles an hour.
I first heard of Christian Science in 1912, when I was instantaneously healed of a very badly sprained ankle. I attended church services a few times, and when, about July, 1913, a dear little sister was taken violently ill with gangrenous appendicitis and the attending physician gave us no hope of her recovery, I told her of the Lord's Prayer as understood in Christian Science.
I was brought up to read and study the Bible, and all my life had desired to understand what I read. I had earnestly prayed to a great power that I knew must exist to help me to understand how to be good; but as I grew to womanhood and then to motherhood I found that I needed more than ever to understand; for it seemed that my prayers were not answered.
