Testimonies of Healing

One December, my husband and I were not working. All the other parents were buying clothes for their children for Christmas.

One day a fellow Christian Scientist I was talking to spoke of how important it is to be vigorous in resisting the suggestions of need for eyeglasses and hearing aids. He felt that apathy often resulted in a failure to heal these difficulties.

It is over seventy years since Christian Science was introduced to our family. Since then I have never had any other help but Christian Science.

About two years ago, I went to visit with my children in Florida. When I got off the plane and walked over to the baggage claim to pick up my luggage, I felt extreme pain in my back, arms, and legs.

It has been over fifteen years since I last wrote a testimony for the periodicals. Over these years there have been numerous healings and demonstrations of God's power and presence in my life.

How can mere words describe what Christian Science means to me and to my family? The following healings represent a very small portion of the great many I have experienced throughout my life. My first year of college meant I was hundreds of miles away from home for the first time, and I seemed to be overwhelmed with fear.

One evening our daughter telephoned to ask me to pray for her eldest son, who was very ill with what she thought was meningitis. His school had sent a letter to all parents, giving details of this disease and the symptoms, and he was manifesting all of them.

" For he [God] satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness" ( Ps. 107:9 ).

I am deeply grateful for the sustaining influence of Christian Science in my life. Expecting good, knowing that good is God's will for me, has made me listen for God in times of need.
