
Testimonies of Healing
In 1957 I had a healing which was so complete that I should like to tell of it in the hope of thereby helping others. I was suffering from a severe nervous breakdown.
In my early twenties I found that I could no longer accept the doctrine of the orthodox church in which I had been reared. One day I felt compelled to tell my husband about my difficulty, and we decided to pray for guidance.

Matthew, in the thirteenth chapter of his book in the New Testament, records Jesus as saying ( verses 45 and 46 ), "The kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it. " Like this merchant, I had been searching for the pearl; but unlike him, when I found it the first time, I was unwilling to sell all and buy it.
I am grateful for having had the privilege of attending the Sunday School in a Church of Christ, Scientist, from the age of four. I had much protection and many healings; but I did not begin to study Science diligently until I had children of my own.
Both my parents were devout Christians, and I early became familiar with the words of the Bible and their literal meaning; but as I grew older I saw that not all who professed to follow the Bible did so in daily living. I thought the Bible was a beautiful book, but I began to look for worldly interests.
I am happy to witness to the healing efficacy of Christian Science. In rearing a family of eight children, my husband and I have found it to be a constant friend in need.
I was brought up in a Christian home and had always loved the Bible; but I had never felt I could understand it until I found Christian Science. It is a continuing joy to me to find that Science and Health by Mrs.
Some years ago I was working in an office the first three days of each week, and my mother, also a student of Christian Science, was taking care of my two children. When I arrived home one Wednesday afternoon, Mother said she thought I should call a practitioner to help my elder daughter, who was complaining of pain in her leg.
After the birth of our son, I suffered a nervous breakdown, and for the next two years I never knew what it was to feel well or to be joyous. One day when I was feeling very low and depressed, a friend and neighbor of short acquaintance called to ask me to help her with some curtains she was making.
