I Consider it a duty to tell others of my experience in Christian Science.
I had charge of an ice-machine, and one day while I had been out for a short time, some one came in, meddled with the screws, and thereby caused disorder. When I returned, I found the room filled with the fumes of ammonia. I took a cloth, dipped it in water, held this before my nose and mouth, and then hastened in to repair the damage. After I had worked for some time, there was an explosion and the ammonia was thrown into my face. My eyes pained me very much, but I remembered where to find the nearest open window. I groped about until I found it and then hastened outside.
They took me to the nearest drug store and called a physician. He examined my eyes and said, "One eye is lost and the other is badly injured." I did not accept the physician's treatment, but determined to try Christian Science, for at different times I had before this received help through it. The next morning I found to my great joy that I could see enough with one eye to travel to our neighboring town, Sheboygan. I had a brother and sister there and wished to ask for treatment. I was taken to the depot, and reached my destination and asked my sister to help me, which she did. I fell into a gentle sleep, and slept quietly until evening.
