I will no longer withhold my testimony of what Christian Science has done for me. It has been nearly fifteen years since I have used any material remedies, and for the peace and comfort which have been mine, when the way seemed dark as well as in time of sunshine, I am truly grateful. I did not accept Christian Science because of the need of physical healing, but because this teaching appealed to me from the first as being true and more beautiful than anything I had ever found before. I had always been devoted to the church I had joined, but there was never a regret in giving it up, for I felt I had outgrown its teaching.
Several years before this, I had been examined by oculists and told that I would always have to wear glasses; but after reading Science and Health for a little while I found that I no longer needed them. I have also had two remarkable experiences in childbirth. Having lost my first little one, I was told by the physicians that I would probably never be able to bear a living child, but in both these instances I had scarcely an hour's warning and very little pain, remaining in bed on the first occasion two or three days, the last time only one day. Not long ago, while outdoors, I stepped on a nail, which went through my shoe and into the foot. My first thought was of the powerlessness of a rusty nail to harm a child of God, and I at once went home to work for myself in Christian Science. Fear, however, tried to get hold of me, so I thought it was best to ask for help, and I did so, with the result that all fear was destroyed. Although I felt a little swelling, I refused to look at it, and there was no pain. The next day the swelling subsided, and at no time did I experience any inconvenience from it.
For these benefits, and countless other blessings, I am truly thankful to God. I am also grateful to Mrs. Eddy for giving us that wonderful book "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and I am striving each day to demonstrate and live Christian Science.— Groveton, N. H.
