Testimonies of Healing

In thankfulness to God, and gratitude...

From the May 1915 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In thankfulness to God, and gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for all the benefits I have received since learning of Christian Science, I offer my testimony. I first heard of this teaching in October, 1912, while suffering from extreme nervousness and resultant stomach trouble. I was healed of the latter disorder very quickly, simply through reading the text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and the nervousness gradually grew less until it finally disappeared. Grateful as I am for the physical healing, I feel yet more gratitude for the change in my thinking, and for the spiritual awakening that has come to me. From being morbid, self-centered, and inclined at times even to melancholy, I am beginning to realize that life is worth while, that I have a responsibility regarding my fellow men, and that real happiness and salvation is to be obtained only by helping others to know the truth about existence.

To all who may doubt that Christian Science is efficacious in any wrong condition, I rejoice to give assurance that there is no wrong it cannot right. My greatest grievance had always been utter lack of confidence in my own ability. Consequently I was of no practical service to any one, not even to myself, and this made me continually discouraged, as I firmly believed that I was hopelessly bound to this condition, though I used my belief in will-power unceasingly to overcome this idea, but with practically no success. Now, however, I rejoice that gradually, as more of the truth of being is unfolded to me, I manifest more ability to be helpful in a practical way, for I am learning that my real birthright is the possession of the wisdom of the one divine Mind. Christian Science has shown me conclusively that all human ills, whether manifest in sickness, sin, or lack of any right condition, are due to wrong thinking, which can be changed to right or true thinking through the study of and obedience to the teaching of Christian Science. My healing has been permanent. I have never had any return of the symptoms of the old condition, and have never taken a drop of medicine since my introduction into Christian Science two years ago.

For all these blessings, and many others, as well as for the help I have received from kind friends, and for all our Christian Science publications, I am more grateful than I can express. My one prayer is for strength and guidance to live a life that will prove me worthy of the good I have received, that I may ably serve others and help lighten their burdens. —
